Want to have fun while learning valuable job and life skills? Become a Varley Art Gallery of Markham Volunteer!

The Varley Art Gallery of Markham is looking for some enthusiastic, energetic people to volunteer during special events, children’s programs, and during all public opening hours. As a volunteer you will build leadership skills, learn how to work as a team, and help patrons get the most out of their visit!

1. Create an account online

First, please create your online volunteer profile. Be sure to choose ‘Culture’ and then ‘Varley Art Gallery’. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

2. Attend an Interview

You may attend an interview with any City of Markham culture venues, recreation centres or libraries. Please check each department for upcoming interview sessions.
Upcoming CULTURE DEPARTMENT Interview Session: Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Markham Museum. Two available sessions: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm AND 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Sign up at www.myvolunteerpage.com

3. Submit Your Certification

To volunteer for all Varley Art Gallery activities, you will need to provide a VSC Police Check Form completed within the last 120 days. Click here for more information on VSC.

4. Attend Training

All volunteers must complete an online “General Orientation Workshop” session.  After completing this workshop training, you may be required to complete additional training specific to the gallery and/or a particular volunteer role. All training is free. We will periodically send reminders on upcoming training sessions as required.
