I have been a docent at the Varley Art Gallery since 2009. Over the past 8 years, I have had the pleasure of guiding many tours of the various exhibitions the Gallery has presented. Docents provide guided tours to groups of all ages. I am a retired Teacher Librarian and a former colleague suggested I become a volunteer at the Varley Art Gallery. This experience allows me the opportunity to research art movements, artists and their works, and this is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. It is rewarding to be able to share the knowledge of the art work to enhance our patrons’ gallery visits. I particularly enjoy bringing groups of adults and teachers through the exhibitions and share some of the passion I have for art with them.
The Varley Art Gallery exudes great vibes. I really enjoy attending the artists’ talks, Curator’s tours, and other exhibition related events. The administration staff is very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They are always willing to provide information and you can see that they take great pride in their work and what they offer the community.
