Want to have fun while learning valuable job and life skills? Become a Varley Art Gallery Volunteer!

The Varley Art Gallery is looking for some enthusiastic, energetic people to volunteer during special events, children’s programs, and during all public opening hours. As a volunteer you will build leadership skills, learn how to work as a team, and help patrons get the most out of their visit!

1. Create an account online

First, please create your online volunteer profile. Be sure to choose ‘Culture’ and then ‘Varley Art Gallery’. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

2. Submit Your Certification

To volunteer for all Varley Art Gallery activities, you will need to provide a VSS Police Check Form completed within the last 120 days. Click here for more information on VSS.

3. Attend Training

Volunteers must attend “General Orientation Workshop” session at the Varley Art Gallery. You may have already attended a training through other City of Markham Departments, but this training is specific to the gallery and is mandatory for all new volunteers. This training must be renewed annually. All training is free. We will periodically send reminders on upcoming training sessions to help everyone secure training.
